In his first press conference for Brighton and Hove Albion, the new Albion boss answered media questions.

Hurzeler has become the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history at the ripe age of 31 years-old after joining Brighton after gaining promotion to the Bundesliga with St. Pauli last season. The new Seagulls boss signed a contract lasting until June 2027.

And the American-born German will no doubt have a busy summer seeing comings and goings in the playing staff. But Tony Bloom and Paul Barber will have no issues with Hurzeler as the new boss says he 'completely' identifies with the club's philosophy.

Albion has built a reputation of finding relative unknowns on the cheap and then selling on for huge transfer fees - just look at Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucerella for example.

But he said: "I completely identify with this philosophy. I think Paul Barber mentioned it, it's part of the business. We have a very good squad and I think it's normal that when you achieve big things there might be interest from other clubs but I'm completely convinced that if important players leave, new players will replace them.

"So it's like always. I had the same at St Pauli. After six, seven months we had a huge run with a lot of success, three of my most important platers left because they wanted a new challenge. That's normal in this business. As a coach you have to accept that. The first option is that you can complain or you can continue and work with the new players and that's the option I choose."

"I think it's like a very, very respectful togetherness," he said.

"The club and Tony and his team will look at the data and then I will look more at the football in a specific way and see if he will fit with us and at the top is the character of the player, which is very important for us. If everything fits together, we decide he can be part of our squad."
