'My Identity' - New Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler outlines main difference between himself and Roberto De Zerbi

Fabian Hurzeler has become the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history at the ripe age of 31 years-old.

He joined Brighton after gaining promotion to the Bundesliga with St. Pauli last season. The new Seagulls boss signed a contract lasting until June 2027.

On the Brighton and Hove Albion website, Chairman Tony Bloom had commended the coach and how impressed he's been with him.

Tony Bloom said: "From the start of the process to appoint our new head coach, Fabian was always a standout candidate and one who had caught our attention with his exceptional work at St Pauli over the past eighteen months."

On Tuesday July 2, the head coach was asked about the differences between himself and the previous man in charge, Roberto De Zerbi.

Fabian Hurzeler said: "When you look at my statistics at St Pauli, it's important that we have a good balance between defensive stability and controlling the game."We conceded the least goals in the league and had the most ball possession, so both if possible. On top of that I'm a big fan of set pieces, because set pieces are a game changer.

"They are a matchwinner, so this would be part of my identity."

De Zerbi has since been confirmed as the new head coach of Marseille, following several reports suggesting that Bayern Munich were interested in the Italian before Vincent Kompany was given the role.
