Brighton beat ‘stiff competition’ to agree deal for 18-year-old – Transfer to be made official ‘shortly’
Source:News -

Last Friday, Expressen reported Brighton & Hove Albion have made an offer of EUR7m to sign IFK Goteborg's Malick Yalcouye.

Recent claims in England have stated Brighton have made progress in their pursuit of the 18-year-old. This is backed up by a fresh report from Expressen, who then provide their own updates on this case.

Yalcouye made 14 appearances since joining Goteborg from Ivory Coast based side ASEC Mimosas in January and has managed to attract interest from other clubs.

Brighton faced 'stiff competition' from several clubs, but they have managed to win the battle in the end. The Swedish club have already rejected an EUR8m bid, which would have been likely made by Fabian Hurzeler's side. After 'intense negotiations', it's claimed the Seagulls have agreed a deal with Goteborg to buy the midfielder for SEK 102m [EUR9m] plus bonuses.

This will make Yalcouye Goteborg's record-sale, surpassing the SEK 50m they received from Benjamin Nygren's sale to Genk in 2019.

Brighton have to agree personal terms with the youngster. This to be sorted out soon as the report states the transfer is 'expected to become official shortly' if there are no last-minute surprises.
