Club heap pressure on Brighton to sell as CEO claims forward has '100% committed' to club

Brighton & Hove Albion are in for an important summer under new manager Fabian Hurzeler but it appears one Bundesliga giant is keen on raiding the club for their star forward.

Roberto De Zerbi guided Brighton & Hove Albion to a Europa League finish in his debut season was a penalty shootout away from leading the club into an FA Cup final at Wembley.

However, a less consistent second season under the Italian followed with Brighton and De Zerbi deciding the time was right to part ways and the South Coast side chose to replace him with St Pauli manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Hurzeler has no previous experience in the Premier League and the German's job may well be about to get tougher.

Whilst the departure of the midfielder would be an important loss to the club, Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer has moved to the AMEX Stadium in a PS30 million deal.

Brighton could well be set to lose another player, however, in the form of forward Denis Undav, who spent last season on loan at Vfb Stuttgart and was prolific for the Bundesliga overperformers.

Despite his good performances back in his homeland, Brighton's desire was to look at him during pre-season and keep him for next season but the Bundesliga club have other ideas.

"We have good chances with Deniz Undav," Stuttgart's CEO Alexander Wehrle stated to Fussball News.

"In the end it can also be a question of time. At some point we may have to say: this far and no further. But that time has not yet come, and the market will only really start moving after the European Championships.

"He (Undav) committed to us 100%. That's why we are prepared to carry out a transfer with this, by our standards, very large financial volume. But we will not exceed certain limits, we will remain sensible."

Brighton have to ensure they hold onto Undav Holding onto Undav, who has struggled to make an impact on the South Coast, would be a smart decision by Brighton's top brass.

With 18 Bundesliga goals to his name last season, Undav clearly has the potential and the ability to be a key man for Brighton heading into a new era under Hurzeler.

Having a striker who can be first choice to allow Evan Ferguson to grow could be vital and the club have to ensure the German remains in Brighton past this summer.
