Man Utd could be about to sign their very own James Milner who starred at Euros

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. have wasted no time identifying United's summer transfer targets, even if some of their pursuits have not gone to plan.

United saw a PS45million bid rejected by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite earlier this summer, a move for Jean-Clair Todibo blocked by UEFA and although Lille are reported to have accepted an offer for defender Leny Yoro, the player is said to favour a move to Real Madrid instead.

But that could be about to change, with the Red Devils said to have entered talks with Turkish side Fenerbahce about a potential move for Ferdi Kadioglu.

United might've been able to snatch Kadioglu for an even cheaper fee if it wasn't for his performances at Euro 2024, as Fenerbahce are believed to be holding out for a higher payout on the back of the tournament.

Kadioglu featured in all five of Turkey's matches in Germany, but any United fans wondering what sort of player they'd be getting have been left somewhat none the wiser.

That's because Kadioglu is a little bit of everything, with the 24-year-old having previously featured as a defender, midfielder and even attacker.

He's drawn - perhaps unwanted, from a United point of view - comparisons to ex-Manchester City, Liverpool and Leeds United star Milner, who has been famed for his versatility as a top-level professional.

The only positions Milner hasn't played in at least once in his career are centre-back and between the sticks - a resume Kadioglu appears to be looking to emulate.

Despite his usefulness across the pitch, it's likely Kadioglu would be signed to primarily operate as a full-back in Erik ten Hag's side.

Bulking up his squad will likely be a top priority for Ten Hag this summer, having just about hung onto his job at the backend of last season.

It all starts again for Ten Hag in the next couple of weeks, with United's non-international players already having returned to training and their first pre-season match coming on Monday against Rosenborg in Norway.
