While Newcastle United have quickly been getting their season back on track, one of the Magpies' youngsters is absolutely thriving during his loan spell away from Tyneside.

Newcastle signed Yankuba Minteh during the summer transfer window. The teenager arrived from Danish side Odense BK for PS6million, which represented a significant investment in a young player with limited senior experience.

But Toon officials have clearly seen something in Minteh, who was immediately loaned out to Eredivisie champions Feyenoord. That was a supreme show of faith in the Gambian, as he joins a side that is competing in the Champions League alongside Newcastle.

It was unclear how much football Minteh would play for Feyenoord, but he has actually proven himself to be a very important player for the Dutch side rather quickly.

The 19-year-old has made his Champions League debut, while he has also scored three goals and provided one assist in the Eredivisie. His latest strike came on Saturday when he gave Feyenoord the lead against Go Ahead Eagles.

Minteh and co went on to win 3-1, and the winger has since earned praise from legendary Dutch striker Pierre van Hooijdonk.

Van Hooijdonk really impressed with 'lightening fast' Yankuba Minteh Van Hooijdonk has been really impressed by Minteh, and has admitted that he is already an important player for Feyenoord whilst speaking to Studio Voetbal.

"I think Minteh is a very interesting player, especially for Feyenoord," he said.

"Feyenoord does not have that many players who can really outplay someone one against one. He can do that, apart from the fact that he is also lightning fast. That also creates a lot of danger in away matches at European level."

That is what Newcastle will have hoped for the youngster, who will be eager to be involved with the Toon first-team when he returns to the club next year.

Eddie Howe and co will no doubt have a plan for how to integrate Minteh into the team, and he already sounds like a player who could make a huge difference.

His speed is proving to be absolutely deadly in a Feyenoord shirt, while he has the end product to match.

This should prove to be another wonderous signing by Dan Ashworth, who continues to ensure Newcastle are ahead of the curve.
