Arsenal are now the dominant football power in London, above their rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Mikel Arteta has said something interesting about Chelsea and their new owners ahead of his side's game against the Blues tonight.

Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have come in for a lot of criticism since taking over Chelsea.

Under their ownership, Arsenal's London rivals finished 12th in the Premier League last season and are currently in ninth a year later.

Boehly and Co also sacked the club's Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel.

However, after all of the money that they have invested, Arteta is confident that the American will be a successful owner.

Speaking to the Evening Standard and other outlets yesterday about Chelsea's new regime the Spaniard said: "I am convinced they will [be a success]. With that squad, yes. And with the manager they have.

"If you look at the history of the Premier League, in the last 20 years [at the top] are the ones that have spent the most, what has happened there is a big relation [between success and money spent], depending on how you look at it.

"They will have their vision and be very clear in how they want to get there."

When did Todd Boehly buy Chelsea? Boehly and Clearlake completed their purchase of Chelsea in May 2022, meaning that it is coming up to two years since they took the reins at Stamford Bridge.

In that time, the Blues have really splashed the cash, bringing in the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk.

They are three of the four most expensive signings in the club's history, with Caicedo and Fernandez taking the top two spots.

However, with Chelsea fighting for a Europa League place, you can certainly question Boehly and Clearlake's spending as owners.
