Morgan Rogers is proving to be an outstanding purchase for Aston Villa after he scored yet again in the Premier League.

Unai Emery's side recorded a 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Saturday, with the home team letting a 2-0 lead slip and walking away with just a point.

Morgan Rogers, who has already scored against Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, in the colours of Middlesbrough in the League Cup, was it yet again after his brilliant finish from the edge of the box.

At the time, Aston Villa were 2-0 up heading into the break, with Chelsea fearing the worst, as Rogers proceeded to do Cole Palmer's trademark celebration when celebrating his goal.

The instant thought of the Chelsea fans was that he was mocking Palmer and sticking the knife into the struggling London club.

But in actual fact, it was far from that because the 20-goal Chelsea man is 'one of my closest friends', as Rogers told BBC Sport.

Both 21, the duo have come up together in the younger age groups for England, as well as playing together in Manchester City's academy.

If you think Palmer's 'ice cold' celebration was his, well, you are mistaken!

The in-form Villa star set the record straight and made it clear that 'it's my celebration. Check the timeline'.

Cole Palmer's Morgan Rogers' celebration "He definitely copied me," said Rogers.

"It's my celebration. Check the timeline, I did it first. He's one of my closest friends in life. I couldn't be more proud of him. He's showing everyone what I knew he could do two or three years ago."

For many weeks now, he has been outstanding for Villa, but against Chelsea, he produced one of his poorest performances.

In truth, the whole team was off it and even Emery would admit that his team were lucky to walk away with a point. The manager wasn't happy with John McGinn.

Of course, there was that controversial VAR call to disallow a stoppage-time winner for Chelsea.

But given that Tottenham were beaten by Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday, then this is now a point gained for the boys in Claret & Blue.
