England manager Gareth Southgate has made a decision over whether or not he'll be recalling Chelsea's Raheem Sterling into the international squad ahead of this summer's Euro 2024 tournament.

Raheem Sterling, 29, has enjoyed an international career that is very impressive. In fact, he's scored 20 goals in 82 senior England caps, while going to five consecutive major competitions with his country.

Surprisingly, he's not been in a Three Lions squad since the World Cup finished in December 2022.

Will the attacker's form at club level be enough to earn him a recall just before this summer's Euros in Germany? He finished the season for Chelsea with 10 goals and eight assists in 43 games across all competitions.

Gareth Southgate names a larger provisional England squad on Tuesday for warm-up matches versus Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland. Afterwards, it'll be narrowed down to a final 26-man travelling party for the Euros, which kicks off on 14 June with hosts Germany against Scotland.

Instead, the 29-year-old wide man will get a break this summer before next season.

Should he feel hard done by? Based solely on form this season, Sterling can't be overly angry that he's been left out again by Southgate.

His tournament experience and impact off the bench would have made sense, but the Chelsea man can't be too upset if players such as Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon have leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

Let's see the full final England squad before making a full assessment on his omission, though.

What does his future hold? In fairness, Sterling has been linked with a potential transfer despite having another three years on his Chelsea deal.

GiveMeSport claimed back in March that Sterling is 'almost certain' to be sold by the Blues this summer because it's agreed as the best next step by all parties.

He fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge in the final months of the season. Therefore, the experienced forward should think long and hard about his future during this break.
