Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is set to demand a bigger say in the club's transfer policy in talks with Todd Boehly if he is to continue in his role beyond the summer
Mauricio Pochettino could reportedly quit Chelsea if he is not given a greater say in the club's transfer policy during planned talks with the club hierarchy.
The Argentine, 52, signed a two-year contract with the Blues last summer but it remains to be seen whether or not he will remain in his post beyond this month after enduring a turbulent maiden campaign.
Pochettino found himself under pressure for portions of the season due to inconsistent results and others have been linked with the Stamford Bridge job. He did, however, oversee a strong end to the season, with Chelsea finishing sixth in the Premier League.
It's thought that Pochettino will discover his fate in a summit with Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali later this week. And while there has been talk that Chelsea could dispense with Pochettino, it now seems he could walk out on the Blues if he does not receive assurances over the club's plans in the transfer market.
Furthermore, Pochettino would like to retain the services of homegrown midfielder Conor Gallagher. The Chelsea hierarchy, though, are understood to be open to offers for the 24-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his contract.
Recent reports have indicated that Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is one of the names under consideration should the Blues and Pochettino part ways in the coming weeks.
