Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal - Review

Mauricio Pochettino has joked that Todd Boehly "would kill him" if Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo did not play for Chelsea against Arsenal on Saturday.

Fernandez joined the Blues from Benfica back in January in a deal worth around PS106million to break the British transfer record, before Chelsea eclipsed their own defeat with the signing of Caicedo in the summer. The two midfielders cost the Blues around PS222m combined - and both were named in the starting XI to face the Gunners despite having faced long trips back from international duty.

Nevertheless, Pochettino opted to give both players 90 minutes as the Blues let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2. Cole Palmer and Mykhaylo Mudryk put Chelsea in control during a largely dominant performance, before a seven-minute blitz saw Arsenal score twice through Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard to earn a share of the spoils.

"Caceido and Enzo arrived after two games in America and they were not fresh. But they are important players for us. It's really tough to arrive like that. I hope now they can recover and train and in one week be at their best."

"We are maybe at the beginning of our project and that is why we have to take positive things. I think we competed really well and after 77 minutes of the game, we had been better and hadn't conceded too many chances. That is credit to the team and we need to only go forward in a positive way."

Chelsea are next in action when they entertain Brentford this weekend. The Blues are unbeaten in four matches in all competitions, after beating Brighton, Fulham and Burnley before the international break.
