Chelsea to seal third summer signing after 'agreement' reached with striker who scored 33 seconds on his debut

Chelsea are close to sealing their third summer signing after agreeing to trigger the release clause of Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu, according to The Sun. The 18-year-old broke into the first team last season, scoring two goals in his seven appearances for the club, including a debut goal just 33 seconds after being introduced.

Chelsea are in the market for a striker to give new manager Enzo Maresca options in attack, after Mauricio Pochettino had only Nicolas Jackson in the second half of the season to pursue European football. The report on The Sun further adds that 18-year-old Guiu might not get a proper look-in under new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, and Chelsea paying PS5 million for his services might be good for everyone involved.

The club gets money they need for the youngster, Chelsea gets a player they can evaluate, and in the worst-case scenario, they can send him out on loan to Strasbourg, giving the player a new chance to prove himself.

The teenager will be Chelsea's third signing of the summer, following Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo and Palmeiras' Estevao Willian, although the latter will not join until 2025.

Chelsea linked to others: Chelsea have shown once again that they're not afraid to splash the cash and will commit almost PS50 million to young players. They are close to signing unknown youngster Omari Kellyman for a reported fee of PS19 million. They are also considering making a PS30 million bid for Tottenham target and Canadian forward Jonathan David, who scored 26 goals for Lille last season.

Estevao was also signed for a reported PS50 million, even though the club paid around PS30 million upfront and will pay the rest in instalments, which sources say are easily attainable targets.

Chelsea finished sixth last season and are hopeful that they can take two steps further and at least secure Champions League football next season.
