Report: Chelsea have high hopes for their 16-year-old youngster who has never played for the first team

As far as youth academies go, there is no better around than Chelsea's at this moment in time.

The Blues have a plethora of talent available to them that have come through the ranks at Cobham, whilst consistently adding to that with top young players from around the world.

The likes of Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez, who aren't set to join up with the squad until next summer, have been brought in with the promise of making an immediate impact on the first team setup.

Last season saw an opportunity for the likes of Alfie Gilchrist and Josh Acheampong to make their debuts for the club in the face of the injury crisis that was ongoing at Stamford Bridge.

However, there is one youngster in particular who it has been claimed the club have high hopes is going to be a top talent when he eventually breaks through.

The youngster operates as a defensive midfielder and was a regular in the Under 18 Premier League last season.

He registered five assists in 16 games in that competition, as well as featuring numerous times in the FA Youth Cup.

Lots of midfielders at Chelsea While the 16-year-old was seen on the bench for the trip to Manchester City last season, he has not yet made his debut for the first team.

The midfield role is a congested one at Stamford Bridge, with both Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo expected to be starters in that role for a number of years now.

With Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos also expected to have long careers at the club going into the future, there will be plenty of competition for any youngster looking to breakthrough, and this makes it a difficult task for Harrison in the next few years.
