'Agreement reached': Chelsea set to sign second South American star after beating Real Madrid
Source:Latest News

Chelsea are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer window and have reportedly reached an agreement with Boca Juniors for 19-year-old defender Aaron Anselmino, according to Diario Ole. The deal comes just days after the club confirmed the signing of 17-year-old Estevao Willian from Palmeiras.

Estevao is one for the future and does not arrive at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025, but it remains unclear when Anselmino will join the Premier League. According to ESPN, Chelsea want Anselmino to join them this summer, while Boca Juniors hope to keep the player until June 2025.

Reports suggest that the fee is around PS20million, although other sources claim it is lower. There is also discussion about whether Anselmino will stay at Chelsea or be loaned out to sister club Strasbourg once the deal is completed. Spanish giants Real Madrid were also interested in signing the 19-year-old, but Chelsea have secured his services.

Chelsea Looking to Compete in the South American MarketIn recent years, Real Madrid have dominated and benefited from the South American market, signing the likes of Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior. Chelsea are now looking to compete in that market for some of the talented players from South America and Europe. They have been encouraged by beating Madrid to the signing of Estevao and look to have repeated the trick with the Anselmino deal.

In the last two transfer windows, Chelsea have spent around PS1 billion on players, including the record signings of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. They have already seen signs of their investment paying off, with Cole Palmer quickly developing into a star in the Premier League and now with the England team at the Euros.
