Chelsea Closing In On Deal For £17 Million ‘Strong and Powerful’ Man

Chelsea are progressing towards signing Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors this summer.

Anselmino Expected To Become A Chelsea Player The State of Play Regarding the Deal The Athletic's Adam Leventhal has reported that talks between club and player have reached an advanced stage, with the fee for the defender expected to be in the region of PS17 million and a six-year deal believed to be the rumoured contract length.

Fabrizio Romano then followed up with an update of his own shortly after, saying a team-to-team agreement on all the specifics is all that's left to be done before this deal is likely given the "here we go".

The expectation is that Anselmino, who can also play in midfield, will move on loan to Strasbourg in France upon his arrival at Chelsea, a move that makes sense with Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo all expected to be ahead of the Argentine in the central defender pecking order for the 2024/25 campaign.

Chelsea's South American Revolution Continues

Should his move be confirmed, Anselmino's arrival in South West London will be the latest in a long line of South American starlets that the Blues have got their hands on, adding to their deals for Andrey Santos, Angelo Gabriel (both of whom have impressed greatly at Strasbourg this season themselves), and the more highly anticipated coups of wide men Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian, the pair set to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025 from Independiente del Valle and Palmeiras respectively. Both are expected to immediately become part of the Blues' first team once they turn 18.

The performances of the Boca Juniors man have earned him praise for being "strong and powerful" both in the air and against opposing attackers.
