Chelsea have made fresh contact with Newcastle over striker Alexander Isak according to reports, as they look to strengthen their squad.
The Blues are in the market for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson who impressed in his debut season with 14 Premier League goals, and have signed Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu.
Despite Guiu's arrival Chelsea are still reportedly in the market for another striker and have been linked with a whole host of names across Europe.
Chelsea have further contact with Newcastle over Isak It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea had made an enquiry to Newcastle over the Sweden international, and were told it would take more than the PS115m they paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo to prize the striker away from Newcastle.
It was then subsequently reported that the Blues weren't in a position to pursue a deal for the 24-year-old due to the finances.
However, in an interesting turn of events Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie reported the clubs had been in fresh contact on Friday in regard to Isak.
He took to X.com and said:
"Chelsea have had further contact with Newcastle over striker Alexander Isak today.
"Newcastle do not want to sell any of their star players but are in a difficult position with PSR deadline looming on July 1.
"Isak, who scored 25 goals last season despite a recurring groin injury, would be valued upwards of PS100m.
"Chelsea made a tentative enquiry for the Swede earlier this week, and there's been further contact since."

With Newcastle under pressure to raise funds before Sunday's profit and sustainability deadline, it appears Chelsea are potentially trying to take advantage of any uncertainty or a change in the Magpie's stance over one of their star players.
Ben Jacobs has reported Newcastle value Isak at PS120m, whilst The Telegraph's Matt Law added the only way a deal could happen is if Newcastle lower their demands, or if Chelsea include players.
More Stories / Latest News Whilst a move is of course highly unlikely it does raise the question as to why Chelsea have contacted Newcastle again if they aren't planning to test their resolve for the Swede in any way.
One things for certain always expect the unexpected with Chelsea when it comes to the transfer market, and a blockbuster move for Isak could be one to keep half an eye on.
