Lewis Hall has joined Newcastle United on a permanent deal following his loan at St. James' Park last season.

The 19-year-old featured 22 times for the Magpies in all competitions last season and the teenager has now signed a long-term contract in the north east. Newcastle had a PS28million obligation to buy Hall, football.london understands, and that has now been triggered.

"I am extremely proud to be able to build on last season and continue my journey at Newcastle United," Hall said. "The fans, the manager and his staff, my teammates and everyone at the club have made me feel so welcome that I want to repay the faith they've shown in me.

"When you pull on the black and white shirt, there is no feeling like it and playing in front of the best supporters in the country is extra special for me being a Toon fan. I gained a lot of experience last season, and with the squad we have, we'll be looking to push on even further this season. I can't wait to get started."

Eddie Howe continued: "Lewis was a very good addition to our squad last season and we have been delighted with his progress and his contribution to the team. I'm very pleased to continue working with him.

"As well as being a talented player, he has a great attitude towards the game and to his own development and I'm excited for this next part of the journey in a Newcastle United shirt."

Hall joined Chelsea at Under-8 level and he now departs as an established Premier League player and an England Under-21 international. He made his senior debut for the Blues against Chesterfield in January 2022 under Thomas Tuchel and became the youngest Chelsea player to ever start an FA Cup tie in a 5-1 victory.

Chelsea have wished Hall the best of luck as the teenager embarks on a new chapter in his career. Via their official website, the club wrote: "We wish Lewis the best of luck in his next chapter and look forward to seeing him again soon."
