19-year-old defender Lewis Hall has completed his permanent transfer from Chelsea to Newcastle United, following his season-long loan at St. James' Park. The clubs reportedly agreed on a PS28m fee plus an additional PS7m in potential add-ons at the time of his (initially) temporary move to the Magpies last summer.
Hall's journey with Chelsea began as an Under-8 in the Academy, where he developed his potential over 12 years. He leaves as a Premier League player and an England Under-21 international.
Chelsea can confirm Academy graduate Lewis Hall has completed a permanent transfer to Newcastle United.
Wishing you all the best for your future career, Lewis.
- Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 1, 2024 In the summer of 2021, Hall signed his first scholarship with Chelsea. He quickly established himself as a regular in the U18 and U21 teams, earning first-team recognition soon after. Hall made his full debut in the FA Cup against Chesterfield, becoming the youngest player to start an FA Cup tie for Chelsea and providing an assist in a 5-1 victory.
His progress continued as he made his Premier League debut and started key away matches against top teams such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. Last summer, Hall was capped at England Under-21 level and then joined Newcastle on loan, where he made 22 first-team appearances and scored twice.
Now, with a long-term contract at Newcastle, Hall looks to continue his promising career on Tyneside.
"I am extremely proud to be able to build on last season and continue my journey at Newcastle United. The fans, the manager and his staff, my teammates and everyone at the club have made me feel so welcome that I want to repay the faith they've shown in me.
"When you pull on the black and white shirt, there is no feeling like it and playing in front of the best supporters in the country is extra special for me being a Toon fan.
"I gained a lot of experience last season, and with the squad we have, we'll be looking to push on even further this season. I can't wait to get started."
