Chelsea and Liverpool have been handed one major boost to their quests of signing Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United this summer as the 22-year-old appears certain to leave Elland Road.
After the star's 21-goal, 10-assist campaign under manager Daniel Farke, it's no surprise that some of the Premier League's biggest clubs have him on their radar for the transfer window but especially so given the Whites' failure to return to the top flight last season. The loss to Southampton at Wembley now means it may be much more difficult to keep all of their key assets for their second attempt at chasing promotion.
18-year-old Archie Gray looks set for an early departure into his Elland Road career after just one senior season, with Tottenham Hotspur pushing for a deal to sign the youngster after months of long-held admiration. Elsewhere, the Whites may be forced to sell winger Wilfried Gnonto with his previous experience in the top flight adding to his value in the eyes of Everton.
But if there's one player the Whites won't want to lose, it will be Summerville. Chelsea, who failed to secure a PS60m move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise earlier this month, are one of the main contenders under new manager Enzo Maresca alongside Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Crystal Palace could also play a factor in the race to sign the Dutch international with the money from Olise's expected sale to Bayern Munich later this summer, but before all of that, it was Brighton who were the current favourites to sign Summerville under new boss Fabian Hurzeler. The Seagulls were expected to offer up between PS35m and PS40m for the star but have now seemingly turned their attention elsewhere.
Brighton are now expected to sign teenager Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United. The deal, which is believed to be in the region of PS35m, is the same amount they may have paid for Summerville meaning their interest in the star may be over.
