'I would say': New Chelsea signing Marc Guiu shares his biggest strengths on the pitch

New Chelsea signing Marc Guiu has been discussing some of his strengths following his move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea announced on Monday that they had officially signed Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The 18-year-old is a striker so could strengthen a position that they have been a bit weak in.

Last season, the Blues finished their Premier League campaign with Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised centre-forward in their squad.

However, given that Guiu is only 18, it remains to be seen how many opportunities he gets with the first team this upcoming season.

The Spaniard has claimed that goalscoring is his biggest strength but is not the only thing he has in his arsenal.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website following his move to west London, he said: "I would say my strength is goal-scoring but I'm a humble guy and selfless. I like to give my all for my teammates. I've always been that way and will continue to be.

"I also like to train so that I'm improving every day. I'm good at taking the ball up, holding possession, giving space and of course scoring goals."

How did Chelsea do in front of goal last season? Chelsea were not actually too bad in front of goal during the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

Under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, they scored 77 times. To put that number into perspective, Chelsea only managed to score on 38 occasions the season before.

Still, having failed to qualify for the Champions League last term, they need more firepower.

If Guiu sticks around, based on his words, maybe the former Barcelona player will be able to give that to them.

Enzo Maresca will be hoping so, as the new Chelsea boss will know that getting back into the Champions League is one thing that he is going to be judged on in the new campaign.
