Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the latest player to make what is becoming a well-trodden move from Leicester City to Chelsea over the last few years.

The midfielder has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge with the option for another year in a move that brings to an end a 17-year stay at Leicester. Dewsbury-Hall rose through the academy at the King Power Stadium, making his first team debut in 2020.

Chelsea have paid a fee of PS30 million to sign the 25-year-old. Chelsea youngster Michael Golding is expected to go the other way, joining Leicester in a separate deal worth a reported PS5 million.

But Dewsbury-Hall is not even the first person this summer to complete a move from Leicester to Chelsea. His move sees him reunited with former manager Enzo Maresca, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Leicester earlier in the summer after leading the Foxes back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

In fact, Chelsea have taken a few players from Leicester over the last eight years. It started with the PS32 million move for N'Golo Kante in the summer of 2016.

Fellow midfielder Danny Drinkwater then joined a year later, completing a PS35 million move. Another Leicester academy graduate Ben Chilwell moved to Stamford Bridge for PS50 million in 2020.

Chelsea then completed a PS75 million move for defender Wesley Fofana on deadline day in 2022. Adding in the transfer fee for Dewsbury-Hall and the PS10 million in compensation that Chelsea paid Leicester for Maresca and his backroom staff, the total that Chelsea have paid the Foxes over the last eight years comes to an eye-watering PS232 million.

Looking back on the players who have made the move, some have been more successful than others. Dewsbury-Hall will be hoping that he can follow in the footsteps of those who have made a big impact at Stamford Bridge.

His debut for the club could come in the Premier League opener against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. He ended last season on crutches after injuring himself in the promotion celebrations, but should return to fitness in time for the start of the new campaign.
