Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, coming off an injury-hit second season at the club, has been popping up in the rumor mill of late, linked for example with AC Milan, who have landed more than their fair share of sweet deals from us over the past few seasons.
Unsurprisingly, the Rossoneri are said to be looking for a loan, possibly with an option to make the move permanent. The two teams were rumored to be "in negotiations" already last week, but the latest word is that we're not actually looking to loan out the 20-year-old - despite facing another potentially crowded depth chart at his position (a problem that we largely avoided last season thanks only to injuries).
However, and that's an "exclusive" however, at that, from Fabrizio Romano, Chukwuemeka's contract does have a PS40m release clause in it, or about double what we paid Aston Villa two years ago. AC Milan are probably in no danger of paying that anytime soon ... but others might? These spreadsheets ain't gonna balance themselves!
