Chelsea have already started their summer transfer window hot as ever after confirming five signings in the first few weeks of Enzo Maresca's reign over the dugout at Stamford Bridge.
Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian was the most expensive so far, with his PS30 million transfer fee eclipsing that of their most recent signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City, with Tosin Adarabioyo's arrival on a free, Marc Guiu's PS5m move from Barcelona and the PS19m signing of Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa all confirming Chelsea's intentions for the 2024/25 campaign.
With pre-season coming up in a few weeks' time, the Blues will want to sort as much business out as possible before then in order to have Maresca's squad at 'full strength' for their tour of the U.S. With that being said, football.london looks at the latest transfer rumours and headlines.
Anselmino loan 'confirmed' Chelsea's attempt at signing Boca Juniors wonderkid Aaron Anselmino has reportedly taken an important step, with the Blues allowing the Argentinian outfit to keep the star for another year on loan.
According to Brandsen 805 and TYCSports, the agreement will mean the 19-year-old will stay at Boca Juniors until at least December after which Chelsea have the option to recall him six months early. Should the Blues choose not to do so, he'll stay out in Argentina until this time next year where he'll officially arrive at Stamford Bridge.
Despite only having ten first team appearances for his current club, it's believed the Blues are making sure that he becomes a vital part of the club over the next campaign in order to get him as many minutes as possible before he arrives in the Premier League.
football.london says: This makes sense for all parties involved. While it's not entirely surprising this current Chelsea project is willing to spend PS17m on a 19-year-old that's made just ten appearances in the top flight of Argentina, securing a loan move back to Boca Juniors in order to make sure he gets game time is the smart move.
It'd be extremely-Chelsea-like for the club to bring him over now, have him sit on the bench for the first six months and then find him a failing loan spell somewhere in Europe. Actually allowing him to develop for another six months at least in an environment he's comfortable in could make or break the transfer and the Blues will be hoping he's another star addition to their young roster.
Murillo gives green light Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo has claimed that he knows Chelsea are interested in him and he'd be open to joining the Blues this summer. The 22-year-old, who also named many of Chelsea's Premier League rivals as potential suitors, has been on the radar at Stamford Bridge since the start of the transfer window and would be their second defensive addition under Maresca.
Murillo's reported price tag of PS50 million may prove too steep for the Blues though, but that hasn't deterred the star himself from naming them as one option he'd be willing to join.
"I know there was a buzz of interest. So, I don't know exactly how much the [asking price] amount is, but I know there was interest," he told the Benja Me Mucho podcast (via the Evening Standard). "I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I thought: 'I'll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I'll go to a big club'. I had that in my head.
"I'd choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There's City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn't discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club.
"We don't know anything for certain, the window opened last month so I'm going to return to Nottingham Forest for pre-season. There might be some discussions on whether I'll stay or not so there's a lot of things to happen still but I'm relaxed."
football.london says: Whilst it's good to hear that a club's target is willing to join them, it might actually cause the opposite to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if quotes like these made Chelsea more wary of signing the 22-year-old, especially given the price tag that's been put on his head.
Murillo did have a good first season in the Premier League but with the loss of Thiago Silva, is he anything Trevoh Chalobah isn't already? Why the Blues are so insistent on splashing out PS50m on a 22-year-old when they have a more developed and better player that has been at the club since he was eight years old escapes me.
If Murillo wants to join Liverpool or Man City, then let him. Don't get bogged down in races when there are better options on the market for cheaper prices - Riccardo Calafiori being one of them. While Chelsea aren't yet in the race to sign the Italian, and with rivals Arsenal looking closer and closer by the day, it's not unlike Todd Boehly to pull off a special swoop and nick him off the Gunners' hands.
