Chelsea still plan to add a new goalkeeper to their squad this summer following Enzo Maresca's appointment, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed in March that a new shot-stopper was one of the priority targets for the summer.

Sources say Maresca, who was appointed in June, wants a new goalkeeper capable of playing out from the back and starting attacks deep inside his own half.

Meanwhile, Robert Sanchez will be given the chance to stake his claim for the first-choice berth in pre-season following a mixed first season at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino.

Kepa Arrizabalaga spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Real Madrid and sources say he will leave Stamford Bridge this summer after six years at the club.

Chelsea plan goalkeeper deal as Maresca weighs up options The future of Djordje Petrovic is also in doubt despite the 24-year-old capably stepping in to replace Sanchez during his injury last season.
