Chelsea surprised many supporters on Monday after deciding to leave Trevoh Chalobah at home.
The rest of the Chelsea team have travelled to the United States for the club's pre-season tour, where they will face the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
However, after being left out of Enzo Maresca's squad, Trevoh Chalobah will not be a part of it.
The central defender departing west London now looks highly likely.
Chalobah isn't keen on joining Crystal Palace, but the 25-year-old may now have no choice but to move to Selhurst Park or another Premier League ground this summer.
He became an important player for Chelsea towards the end of last season, with Mauricio Pochettino starting him regularly at that part of the campaign, but with the Argentine gone now, there is not really anyone to fight his corner.
Chelsea brought Tosin Adarabioyo to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer and also have Wesley Fofana and Axel Disasi for the right centre-back position.

On X, the transfer expert said: "Chelsea told him to stay home and not travel for pre season.
Tough call but club feel squad is heavy with Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo in that position.

Manchester United considered signing Chalobah recently, but that interest seems to have gone cold and may not pick up again after the Red Devils' acquisition of Leny Yoro from Lille.
Another Premier League club like Palace, then, are probably a more likely destination for Chalobah this summer.
Being a Chelsea academy graduate, plenty will be sad to see him go.
But it is true, the Blues are quite stacked in central defence at the moment.
