Enzo Maresca shares whether or not Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will be available for Chelsea vs Club America

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has had a delayed start to life at Chelsea because of an injury problem, but the head coach has just provided an update on him.

Just like Blues boss Enzo Maresca this summer, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left Leicester City and made the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer. The 25-year-old was included on the club's pre-season tour in the United States, but he missed both of the opening two games versus Wrexham and Celtic.

A recent report by The Athletic claimed that Dewsbury-Hall has recovered from his ankle injury. As a result, they said he could make his unofficial debut in Chelsea colours when the team faces Club America on Thursday in their next friendly match.

There's now been an official update from Maresca on the central midfielder's fitness, though.

"Kiernan can be involved in tomorrow's game. That is good news," Maresca said in his press conference, as quoted by Football.London.

How important could Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall be? It's pretty evident from Chelsea's opening games in pre-season so far that the players are adapting to the new methods of Maresca, which is totally normal for any new management. However, Dewsbury-Hall joins up with his squad with the advantage of knowing the philosophy already inside out.

Dewsbury-Hall was influential in Leicester's success in the second tier last season, scoring 12 goals and making 15 assists across all competitions. There's serious competition for places in the Chelsea midfield when you look at all the options, but the former Leicester man is a goalscoring No 8 that will be keen to impress at his new club.

It's going to help the midfielder so much settle in when he can get on the pitch and contribute. In terms of life off the pitch, Robert Sanchez said he's getting on with Dewsbury-Hall, as quoted by Ben Jacobs on X.
