'Clear and clarified' - Chelsea boss Maresca wants Enzo Fernandez saga put to bed

Chelsea have announced the signing of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

The Dane joins the Blues on a seven-year deal, and for an undisclosed fee, although reports claim that the figure stands at PS20.7 million. He played 38 times for Villarreal last season, and has made six appearances for Denmark's under-21 side.

Speaking to the club website, he said: "This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I can't wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new teammates."

The 22-year-old joins the west Londoners' goalkeeping ranks that include Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic, and Jorgensen will compete with the pair for the no. 1 jersey at Stamford Bridge.

He becomes the sixth senior signing of the Enzo Maresca reign, following Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Marc Guiu.

American left-back Caleb Wiley also signed for the Blues this summer, but he is expected to be loaned out immediately to affiliate club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

Jorgensen is now expected to meet up with his new teammates on the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

The Blues face Club America, Manchester City and Real Madrid in the rest of their time Stateside, having lost 4-1 to Celtic last time out.
