The Swedish-born Danish Under-21 international has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031 after joining from LaLiga outfit Villarreal in a deal believed to be worth PS20.7million.

Jorgensen immediately joined up with his new Chelsea team-mates in Atlanta on Tuesday, training ahead of the third instalment of their USA pre-season tour which comes against Mexican champions Club America at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday night.

"This move is a dream come true," said Jorgensen. "I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can't wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new team-mates."

New arrival: Filip Jorgensen has become Chelsea's seventh signing of the summer transfer window

He made 44 senior appearances across all competitions for Villarreal after joining from Spanish rivals Real Mallorca in 2017, making his LaLiga debut back in January 2023.

Jorgensen also has six caps for Denmark's U21s after switching his international allegiance from Sweden, whom he represented up to U17 level.

Chelsea saw off rival interest from Marseille to land the 22-year-old, who becomes their seventh signing of the summer transfer window already following the earlier arrivals of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley and Renato Veiga.

"I am very happy with how the last 12 months have panned out," Jorgensen added in an interview with Chelsea's official website. "I am very confident in myself and I know what qualities I have.

"Luckily I had the chance to show myself on the biggest stage in Spain and now I am very happy to have the chance to do that at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow."
