Filip Jorgensen explains why Chelsea were one of his favourite teams growing up

Chelsea's new signing Filip Jorgensen seems to have enjoyed watching the club play when he was younger.

Filip Jorgensen will now get to put on a Chelsea shirt himself after joining the Blues from Villarreal.

Chelsea confirmed the 22-year-old's arrival on Tuesday, and he is now set to compete against Robert Sanchez for a spot in Enzo Maresca's team.

Sanchez has quickly become friends with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, another summer signing, but the Spaniard will have to see Jorgensen as a rival.

The competition could be good for the former Brighton & Hove Albion man, though, while Jorgensen will be delighted to be at Chelsea, a club he followed growing up.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website about the club legend, he said: "I always liked watching Chelsea because I watched a lot of Petr Cech growing up, so Chelsea were one of my favourite teams to follow."

Cech is arguably the greatest goalkeeper in Chelsea's history. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he helped the club to win the biggest honours in the game, including the Premier League title on more than one occasion and one Champions League trophy.

If Jorgensen can achieve even half of Cech's success, he will go down as a terrific signing for the Blues.

When could Filip Jorgensen make his unofficial debut for Chelsea? Chelsea play Club America in the early hours of Thursday morning as part of their United States tour.

However, the game may come a bit too soon for Jorgensen. But with the former Villarreal man already in the US with the first-team squad, he may be able to feature in Saturday's match versus Manchester City.

City also happen to be Chelsea's first game of the new Premier League season, and that is the match that Jorgensen will be desperate to play in.

Maresca has hailed Jorgensen as a "very good" player, so he very well could get the nod when City travel down to the Bridge on August 18.
