'Great' Chelsea player admits he doesn't have a target for goals this season despite being an attacker

Cole Palmer finished last season as Chelsea's top scorer after registering 25 goals in all competitions for the Blues.

The team's first-choice striker Nicolas Jackson will be hoping to come out on top in the new campaign, while Samu Omorodion will also want to score as many goals as he can as a centre-forward should he end up moving to Chelsea.

That now looks likely, with Atletico Madrid willing to sell Omorodion once they sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

If Marc Guiu does not go out on loan before the transfer window closes, the Spaniard will be hoping to win Enzo Maresca's side some points this season by scoring some goals as well.

However, that is not the case for Guiu right now. The striker says he just wants to improve and does not have a goal target in mind.

Speaking to Chelsea's official website, the 18-year-old said: "Our objective is to play good football and to win. At the end of the season, if we can look back and think we've had a very good season, that would be a success.

"Personally, I want to get better and better every day and do as much as I can to help the team. I don't have an objective in terms of scoring goals or things like this, I will try to do my best."

While he is still only a teenager, team-mate and compatriot Marc Cucurella has already hailed Guiu as a "great player".

Marc Guiu may have to go out on loan because of Nicolas Jackson and Samu Omorodion At one point, it looked like Guiu would be staying with Chelsea's first-team squad. Maresca suggested that Guiu had a place in his ranks.

However, that was when the Blues' move for Omorodion seemed dead. They have obviously revived things since then, and his arrival would do Guiu no favours.

The Spain U21 international and Jackson are likely to be the main two forwards, leaving little opportunity for Guiu to get game time.

With that in mind, the former Barcelona man may have to go out on loan, which may disappoint some Chelsea supporters after his performances during the club's pre-season tour of the United States. It would probably be best for his development, though.
