‘Angry’: £29m Chelsea player was not happy to be subbed off by Enzo Maresca vs Bournemouth – journalist

Chelsea returned to Premier League action over the weekend in winning style following a tense 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Enzo Maresca's men left it late but found the breakthrough in the final few minutes to keep up their winning start to life away from home.

It was the quality off the bench that made the difference in the end for the Blues. Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku in particular impressed off the bench, with the duo combining for the only goal.

In truth, it had been a lacklustre start to the game for Chelsea, who would have been a goal down at the break had it not been for Robert Sanchez's penalty save.

Maresca decided to stick with a lot of the players who had served him well already this season, which saw Noni Madueke remain in the starting side.

He said: "Tosin and Felix on for Disasi and Madueke. Madueke looks angry to be taken off."

It is perhaps a sign of just how impressive Madueke has been this season that he was frustrated that he had not had the impact he desired on the South Coast at the weekend.

The winger impressed on his England debut last week, and will no doubt have been looking to secure his place in the starting side at Chelsea.

Jadon Sancho pushing for a start It will be difficult now for Maresca to leave Sancho out of the starting side for next weekend, with him making a real impact on the way the game went in the second half.

Nkunku will also feel like he has earned a start, with him offering a goalscoring ability very few in the squad can compete with when he is fit.
