Chelsea have several players in their squad who were linked with moves away from the club during the summer transfer window.
Noni Madueke and Axel Disasi are just two examples after both players were linked to Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
Last month, it was claimed that Newcastle had an interest in Disasi as they struggled to tie up a deal for Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi.
In the end, though, both the central defender and Madueke remained part of Enzo Maresca's first-team squad.
"SPTC sources have been informed that the player himself was adamant that he was joining Newcastle at one point this summer," journalist Simon Phillips shared on Substack.
"We were told with about two weeks left remaining in the window from people close to Madueke's camp that the player believed he was heading to Newcastle, and that Chelsea were going to accept an offer for him."
Madueke was subbed off in Chelsea's win against Bournemouth over the weekend and did not look happy about it, according to BBC Sport's Nizaar Kinsella.

Chelsea made the right decision not selling Noni Madueke to Newcastle United Madueke has not done too much since his hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month, but Chelsea should have no regrets about not selling him this summer.
At 22, the winger has so much potential and is one of the best dribblers in European football right now.
As per FBref, Madueke has ranked in the 90th percentile for successful take-ons among attacking midfielders and wingers over the last year.
"I can judge Noni's performance, which was fantastic," Maresca told Chelsea's official website following Madueke's hat-trick at Molineux. Ultimately, he has managed to make a real impact for the Blues in this early part of the season and is on the right track.
Chelsea signed Madueke from PSV Eindhoven for PS29m back in 2022. If the Blues do decide to sell him, then they have to be looking at making some healthy profit on the England international, who has improved since joining the club.
Again, though, Madueke is a player whom Chelsea should be looking to keep at Stamford Bridge.
