'Absolute embarrassment': Pundit labels Chelsea a 'joke' despite 4-2 win
Source:The Chelsea

Chelsea and Brighton put on a very entertaining game that featured lots of attacking football, but it didn't please one particular pundit who hated what he was seeing.

For the neutral, Chelsea vs. Brighton had everything you want in a game with six goals, but for Blues fans, conceding two goals in that particular fashion will be disappointing.

Enzo Maresca has some work to do on defending this week in training as both of Brighton's goals were easily avoidable.

Robert Sanchez, who was at fault for the second goal, came out with an apology to Chelsea fans after the match for his error.

Playing out from the back in Maresca's system has its risks, but the decision-making for the two goals conceded really was questionable.

And, this is something that one particular pundit echoed, but in a much more harsh fashion.

Cole Palmer's four goals was a sight to behold, especially his free-kick.

But, rather than just appreciating the positives in the game, Nicol had more of a negative opinion.

Speaking on ESPN UK, Nicol said that Chelsea vs Brighton was an 'absolute embarrassment'.

"If you like entertainment, chances, mistakes and all the things that go along with it, then you can go and watch Chelsea and Brighton.

"If you like proper football, that was a joke. Those two teams were an absolute embarrassment defensively."

Is Enzo Maresca's style the way forward for Chelsea? There's no doubt that the Chelsea boss' way of playing football has its risks, but there's no point in changing something that's working very well for the Blues right now.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five games in the Premier League and have scored 15 goals in the process, which is pretty incredible.

The Blues are being slammed for their defending against Brighton, but when you look at the bigger picture they've only conceded five goals in their last five Premier League fixtures.

As long as you outscore the opposition, who cares what the performances look like.
