The international break has seen a lot of Chelsea players pick up where they left off from as far as performances on the pitch goes.

Nicolas Jackson scored his first goal in a long time for Senegal, while Mykhailo Mudryk found the net from distance and impressed in a win for Ukraine.

Christopher Nkunku also carried on his excellent start to the campaign in front of goal with a well-taken goal on his return to action for France.

Portugal have a healthy contingent of Chelsea players representing them this week, with Roberto Martinez naming two of them in his starting side for their first fixture.

Pedro Neto and Renato Veiga began, with the latter actually making his senior debut for his country.

One of those is Manchester United star Diogo Dalot. He told Abola that it had been an excellent performance from Veiga.

He said: "We had the opportunity to congratulate them at the end of the game. It's not easy, in an away game, against a strong team.

"The maturity with which they debuted... Renato Veiga had an excellent game, he has been proving his worth. As a collective, we help each other a lot."

Veiga set to replace Cucurella vs Liverpool Veiga has been a revelation since his move to Stamford Bridge, however that is likely to be put to the test when the Blues return to league action.

A suspension for Marc Cucurella already will see Enzo Maresca need to rotate at left-back, and the Portugal international seems a far more likely choice to play than former vice-captain Ben Chilwell.

This will provide the biggest test yet of Veiga, however what he has shown so far suggests that he is more than capable of being able to step up and impressing against league leaders Liverpool.
