Enzo Maresca will be without two key figures as the Blues take on Anfield this weekend

Chelsea are back in action this weekend as they prepare to face their 'Big Six' rivals Liverpool on Sunday. The Blues have enjoyed an improved start to their 2024/25 campaign under new head coach Enzo Maresca but will face a stern battle at Anfield when they take on the current Premier League leaders.

Unfortunately, Maresca will be without left-back Marc Cucurella and centre-back Wesley Fofana with the pair both receiving their fifth booking in the Premier League this season during the side's feisty altercation against Nottingham Forest before the international break.

As the duo prepare to serve a one-match suspension, here is the latest news from the SW6 camp...

Chelsea star on Stamford Bridge exitChelsea star Christopher Nkunku has provided fans with an ambiguous update on his future at Stamford Bridge following rumours he could be returning to former club Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite not starting under Maresca, Nkunku has still managed to score seven goals in 11 matches, with his form reportedly attracting attention from the Ligue 1 giants PSG.

When asked by Telefoot, as reported by Football London, on the rumours that could see the Frenchman return to his old club, Nkunku said: "PSG remains a big club, but there has not been on approach."

Man Utd star on 'bargain' Blues 21-yoManchester United's Diogo Dalot has offered his opinion on the rising Chelsea star Renato Veiga, with the Red Devils defender very impressed with his compatriot's performance for Portugal in their win against Poland.

Viega was a surprise arrival in SW6 this summer, with the Blues paying Swiss side FC Basel just EUR14m (PS11.7m) for his signature. The versatile star - who has already played at left-back, centre-back and in midfield for the Blues - earned a call-up to Portugal's senior squad and immediately earned significant praise by the media.

Spanish outlet AS described the 22-year-old as a 'hidden gem' with Chelsea News believing the Stamford Bridge club to have secured themselves 'an absolute bargain'. Speaking to the media after the match, Viega's domestic rival and international teammate Dalot said of the rising star: "Renato Viega played an excellent game (against Poland), he has been proving his worth. As a team we helped each other a lot."
