Report: Arsenal are now in pole position to sign 'special' Chelsea target

Arsenal could ruin Chelsea's transfer plans next year, with both London clubs reportedly interested in the same forward.

Arsenal and Chelsea's first-choice strikers have both performed well this season. Kai Havertz and Nicolas Jackson have scored four goals each in seven Premier League appearances.

However, the two London giants still appear to be on the lookout for a new No.9. As well as Jackson, Chelsea also have Christopher Nkunku, who has performed in the current campaign too.

The Frenchman has scored seven goals in 11 appearances in all competitions. Despite his good form, Nkunku has not been approached by PSG.

However, the 21-year-old remained at Leipzig. Sesko explained his decision to do so back in July, but it looks like he could still end up leaving the German club in the near future.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have Sesko on their shortlist. The same outlet also claims, though, that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are in pole position to land the Slovenian.

He has impressed in the Champions League this term, scoring three goals in two games for Leipzig.

Why Benjamin Sesko is on Chelsea's shortlist Sesko has so much potential and Chelsea scouts would have seen that towards the end of last season if they flew out to watch him.

The Slovenia international went on a run of seven goals in seven consecutive matches in the final part of the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign.

"His abilities make him a special player," Leipzig's former technical director Christopher Vivell was once quoted as saying by the Bundesliga's official website.

Sesko has also impressed some Chelsea fans with his performance against Juventus in the Champions League this season.

Ultimately, Sesko would probably be a welcome addition at Stamford Bridge, but the Emirates appears to be a more likely destination at this moment in time.
