One of the ex-Chelsea managers is leading the race for the England job.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Egbali's decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel two years ago might now be a blessing in disguise for England, who are reportedly in talks with him, according to reports from Germany.

The 2021 Champions League winner is one of the leading candidates for the role and has been strongly tipped to land the prestigious position.

The Chelsea board decided to part ways with Tuchel just a few months after they took over the club, and two years down the line, they have made little significant impact. Chelsea fans are often quick to point to the dismissal of the German manager as a key mistake in the new ownership's tenure as they found it strange at that time given the success he brought to the club.

Not everything has been smooth for the 51-year-old since leaving West London. He was appointed as Bayern Munich manager, winning the league in his first season, but things fell apart when he finished third the following season, leading to his dismissal.

He's been without a job since, and with England now looking for a successor to Gareth Southgate, his name has been strongly linked to the role.

The prospect of Tuchel managing Manchester United is a nightmare scenario for many Chelsea fans, given the rivalry between the clubs and the affection Chelsea supporters have for him. Therefore, the England job is seen as an ideal alternative that would delight the fans.

Chelsea, meanwhile, appear to have found form and a capable manager in Enzo Maresca, who has guided them on a good run, with the club currently sitting fourth in the league table. They will be hoping to maintain this momentum as they travel to Anfield this weekend, aiming for a positive result.
