Chelsea co-sporting director Laurence Stewart has expressed his happiness over one player remaining at the club.

Laurence Stewart and Chelsea's other co-sporting director, Paul Winstanley, recently gave an interview where they spoke about many topics in detail.

The above includes Enzo Maresca's early impact, with Winstanley claiming that Maresca has not surprised the club with what he has been able to do in charge so far.

The Italian has been pretty consistent with his line-ups in the Premier League this season, which has probably helped the team.

Stewart says Chelsea are "delighted" that the central defender is still with them following doubts about his future at one point.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the Chelsea director said: "There was a little bit of a question mark about Levi's future when we arrived and what that might be. So, obviously, we're delighted that he's here and he's playing and developing, and I think as long as he continues with the same approach and mentality, which we absolutely expect him to, I think you've got another regular England international there.

"So it's about the players that have come in, but also some of the players that were here and Levi's a really good example of that."

Colwill is one of many talented players in the England squad, but Danny Murphy doesn't think Colwill is better than Marc Guehi.

Levi Colwill now one of Chelsea's most important players Having stayed at Stamford Bridge, Colwill, who earns PS100,000 a week (via Spotrac), has now become a key member of this Chelsea squad.

The centre-back has started in all seven of his side's Premier League games this season. Maresca has really depended on him.

According to WhoScored, the 21-year-old is making 3.7 clearances per match in the English top flight, which is the second-highest average among his teammates.

Ultimately, it is not hard to see why Chelsea are so happy to have Colwill, and it is unlikely that he will be leaving the club any time soon.

Earlier this month, it was claimed that Chelsea rejected a huge offer for Colwill in the summer. He is someone who is clearly rated highly by both his manager and the higher-ups at Stamford Bridge.

Playing in his natural position again, Colwill himself must also be happy right now. The England international is a centre-back but was often used at left-back last season.
