Chelsea were given their biggest test since the opening day of the season in their return to Premier League action yesterday.

A narrow 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield saw them fall to just their second defeat of the season, and miss out on the chance to go above Arsenal in the table.

Enzo Maresca insisted he was impressed with what he saw from his players despite the result, while supporters were quick to take to social media with praise for Romeo Lavia.

The Blues had the majority of possession in the game, whilst also completing considerably more of their passes than their league-leading opponents.

Chelsea have higher pass success rate than any other team at Anfield In fact, while coming away with no points, OptaJoe have shared that Chelsea's 88.1% pass completion rate was higher than any Premier League side have ever recorded at Anfield.

The control the Blues had for significant portions of the game is a massive positive, and the improvements shown from their embarrassing defeat to the same opponents last season is another real step forward.
