I saw £45m Chelsea player have one of his worst games for the club against Liverpool - opinion

This season, Chelsea have had one of the best attacks in the Premier League, with only two other teams scoring more goals than them.

However, Chelsea's extremely talented forward line could not prevent them from losing against Liverpool over the weekend.

Nicolas Jackson did manage to grab a goal, but Enzo Maresca's side went on to lose 2-1 at Anfield.

Cole Palmer started the match, but he had a quiet game. In fact, it was probably one of his most quietest since he joined Chelsea from Manchester City last year.

The Reds did something that most Premier League sides have failed to do over the past 12 months: limit Palmer's threat.

According to Sofascore, the 22-year-old only managed to make one key pass, while he also failed to register a single shot on target.

Gary Neville claimed that Palmer was "quiet" during the game, and he was not wrong. Simply put, it was probably one of his worst performances in a blue shirt.

Cole Palmer's Liverpool display not a concern Palmer's showing at Anfield was certainly a disappointing one by his lofty standards. However, it is not something for Maresca to be concerned about.

Liverpool are obviously a good team with some really solid defenders like Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate.

Going to Anfield was always going to be a tough task for Palmer and his teammates. If Maresca looks at Chelsea's start to the season as a whole, then he will be encouraged by what he has seen from Palmer and the rest of the team's attackers.

Following Jackson's goal against Arne Slot's men, combined, the Senegal international, Palmer and Noni Madueke have netted 15 times in the Premier League.

Before Sunday's game, Jamie Carragher suggested Liverpool needed a player like Palmer to win the title this term.
