Chelsea have had a superb start to the season, sitting third in the Premier League table during the November international break.
The Blues endured a number of underwhelming seasons prior to the 2024/25 campaign, but they're now looking more than capable of a top-four finish at least.
Chelsea were once again especially busy in the summer transfer window, welcoming 11 new arrivals at Stamford Bridge and also letting 11 other players leave.
One player who joined the Blues over the summer has now been declared the Premier League signing of the season so far by two ESPN pundits.
Chelsea's Pedro Neto deemed best Premier League signing so far this season by Shaka Hislop and Don Hutchison The player in question is Pedro Neto, who joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported PS54million in August.
Neto has made 15 appearances for Chelsea since his move, registering three goals and three assists for Maresca's side.
Shaka Hislop and Don Hutchison both picked Neto as their signing of the season so far, with the former explaining why they made their selections.
"Well, he cost Chelsea quite a bit of money," began Hislop. "And you knew the player who was coming from Wolves.
"I just think he gives them a different dynamic in those wide areas. Every time he's come off the bench he's changed the game for Chelsea.
"I think he has been one of Chelsea's brighter lights this season in what has been a very good start to the season for them."
Mark Ogden opted for Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori, while Steve Nicol picked Nottingham Forest's Nikola Milenkovic.
Chelsea shining with Neto as Arsenal missed out Arsenal were strongly linked with a move for Neto last summer but nothing came of those links as Chelsea swooped in and made him theirs.
Journalist James Olley told ESPN in August that Neto's injury record was a big problem for Arsenal.
"I think that's one of the reasons Arsenal didn't end up pursuing Pedro Neto basically," he said.
"A top player, Chelsea could've stolen another one from under their noses there, but he's missed a lot of games through injury and Arteta has this big thing in his head about reliabilit.
"Your biggest strength is your availability is how they phrase it internally, Neto is one of those players they were looking at for a long time, but they've decided to go elsewhere this summer."
