Reports have claimed that Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling could now face a ban following his actions in the first half against Tottenham.

According to the Mail Online, the 28-year-old could be penalized after he was caught throwing an object back into the crowd.

The moment was just one of a number that made the London derby during the week a real ill-tempered affair.

Celebrations for some of the goals (and disallowed strikes) showed the bad blood between the two sides, with Chelsea players ensuring they made it clear to the home fans.

This was on show the most after Cole Palmer's penalty got the Blues back on level terms late in the first half.

The 21-year-old shushed the supporters, with one clearly showing his frustrations by launching a projectile towards the Blues.

Sterling could be banned Sterling seemed to retaliate by launching the item back, however this could now see him banned due to rulings surrounding doing that.

The decision would seem harsh considering there was no real malice in what the England international was doing.

It would also be a big blow to Chelsea given the form he is currently in too. He is certainly playing his best football since his PS50m move from Manchester City.

It remains to be seen if the ban will come in time to affect his participation for the upcoming game against his former side, or if it will come in after the upcoming international break.

If he is forced to miss at least one game, it is likely the manager will bring back Mykhailo Mudryk after he was back on the bench from the Spurs game.
