Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne turned in one of his top performances for the club during the 3-2 win over Coventry City.

The Irishman was the driving force and beating heart of a North End victory which ended a seven-game winless run.

Browne scored from the penalty spot in the first half to put PNE 2-1 up, but his all-round performance was truly one of his finest.

The first stat to catch the eye is that Browne had 89 touches of the ball - a full 24 more touches than any other PNE player.

Midfield partner Ben Whiteman had 47 touches, so you begin to see just how influential Browne was in this PNE win.

Browne's excellence wasn't just in an attacking sense though as he was very effective defensively too.

This was a real captain's performance from Browne, with boss Ryan Lowe hailing him as 'fantastic' against Coventry.

It may be difficult for Browne to replicate this kind of performance again, but if ever there was a day to do it, it may just be against rivals Blackburn Rovers on Friday.
