Interview: Mark Robins talks Stoke draw, clean sheet and Brad Collins
Source:Ccfc

Mark Robins is looking to use the 0-0 draw with Stoke City as a starting point moving forward, following a run of defeats.

City picked up a clean sheet against the Potters, in a game where they had the better of the chances, but were unable to break the deadlock.

The Manager was pleased to keep the clean sheet and pick up a point, but is looking to kick-on from here after the international break.

Keeping a clean sheet...

"That's important. I think if you can't win don't lose. That's been the story and clean sheet on top of it is good.

"I think it is tinged with some frustration though as you will probably be able to tell from everybody. I think the players in the dressing room were happy with the fact that they've managed to keep the ball out of our net, and rightly so.

"They've worked really hard for that, but they are a little bit disappointed that we didn't take one of those chances and I think that's probably echoed throughout the building."

Reflecting on the game...

"There were some good performances, some players have put a real shift in and we've had enough chances to take one and I mean good chances, so from that point of view, really good, but also a bit frustrated.

"It's a little bit sort of how we've been, you've got to take one of those chances to then settle the nerves and once we do that then I'm sure we're going to beat somebody really heavily.

"I think we create enough and we're working hard enough and we're showing enough in terms of our creativity. We've got some decent balls into the penalty area, we've just not managed to take one of those chances.

"On the flip side of that, we've managed to defend and keep the ball out of our net, which was really important. So, on the balance of things, there's a starting point.

"We've obviously changed shape that we've played for the last sort of three or four years and done it in a different way, but like I said, food for thought from last week, into this week.

"We've done a lot of work, some of which came out and you could see clearly and some of which didn't quite work yet, but obviously you're playing against a really talented side, so you've got to start somewhere."

Stoke's way of playing...

"I think they play in a way that that they can catch you on a counter attack. They've got some really blistering pace in the side and they've got some power in the side and they've got some people that have got a lot of know how and I thought we handled that pretty well.

"We kept them quiet for the most of the game and I think that on the flip side of it again, we created enough to have won the game fairly comfortably.

"I didn't think that they put us under too much duress. I think we dealt with things at source more often than not and I think we played and blocked off and picked up a lot of possession and used the ball okay at times, but other times we just didn't get the right execution and that's just a byproduct of the sort of defeats that we've had over the last few weeks that really have been hard to take and have been pretty much unjustified."

Brad Collins making his league debut...

"They had some free kicks and some corners and Brad has made a really good save actually that's coming because they've got the ball right on top and they put all the players in and he got his right hand over the top and pushed it away which was important.

"He's handling was good and is kicking was good, as was his decision making and I thought that was a decent performance from Brad coming in because obviously Ben's played a lot of games on the bounce.

"I just felt that Ben needed to come out and just to take that pressure off of him and knowing that Brad at some point he's going to have an opportunity and this felt like the right time."
