Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will be hoping to rest a number of his players in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup trip to West Ham United.

The Gunners will look to earn their place in the quarter-final of the domestic competition with victory at the London Stadium. Arteta's men defeated Brentford in the third round in September to set up a tie with David Moyes' men.

Saturday's 5-0 win over Sheffield United continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Arsenal are now two points behind north London rivals Tottenham after 10 games.

Now, tomorrow's fixture is a chance for certain players to be rested after a hectic start to the campaign. Supporters will be hoping to see Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Declan Rice not starting, though there will be hope to see Martin Odegaard in action.

The captain could only make the bench at the weekend and football.london understands he has a hip injury, but not a serious one. Arteta is expected to provide an update on the playmaker in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, though he did mention Odegaard's knock on Saturday.

"We went through all the minutes that everybody has played the last three weeks and some of them played an enormous amount of minutes," he said. "Martin has been as well carrying a little thing that wasn't very comfortable in the games. So we have players with enormous quality and we have to choose and we believe that it was the right day to do so."

Striker Gabriel Jesus will miss the trip to West Ham after sustaining a hamstring problem last week. Arteta confirmed the Brazilian would be sidelined for the coming weeks, saying: "The scans show that there is a muscle injury.

"We might miss him for a few weeks again... With Gabi I cannot give you any time frame because he always surprises us. He felt something there, it was a really awkward action. It's true that he had quite a lot of load in those games playing with the national team and with us which he hasn't done in a long, long time. That's really bad news for us."

Jurrien Timber is also out after picking up a ACL injury in his first game for the club.
