Source:The Chelsea

Chelsea are reportedly one of the top Premier League clubs to register their interest in signing a highly-rated English youngster.

If you look at the transfer strategy at Stamford Bridge under the current Chelsea owners, they've invested very heavily in young stars for the future.

The Blues have signed so many upcoming talents, with various successes. In reality, everyone will need to show some patience to see if this approach really can work moving forward.

Chelsea have signed teenagers such as Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian, both of whom will arrive next summer. Incidentally, Nosso Palestra reports that Chelsea plan to bring Estevao over to help familiarise him with his new home.

Let's not forget that the Blues academy continues to produce talent year on year as well.

It is understood that the trio of Premier League heavyweights have all registered interest in signing the 17-year-old English youngster. Sunderland's rising star is prepared to bide his time to wait for the right move away from the Stadium of Light, though.

The report adds that many people within the game believe that Rigg has bigger potential than Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton, who's had a phenomenal rise this year. Wharton, who's a 20-year-old midfielder, went from Blackburn Rovers in the Championship to Palace in the Premier League and a spot in England's squad at the Euros all in a hectic 2024.

Who is Chris Rigg? Rigg, who's a boyhood Sunderland fan, is slowly starting to make a name for himself in the Championship. It's been enough to grab the attention of some of England's biggest clubs, too.

At the age of 17, the versatile midfielder has already played 30 first-team games for Sunderland.

The Black Cats currently sit top of the Championship table this season with four wins from four. Interestingly, Rigg has appeared in every league game so far, starting three of them.

He's certainly a player to keep an eye out on, especially if Chelsea are serious about signing him.
