Goodison View: Long-term woes on the cards at Everton after Sky Sports Saturday reveal
Source: Goodisonnews

Sky Sports have revealed that Everton have one of the oldest XIs in the league, behind only Brighton, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham.

This is not really ideal as the aim would've been to be somewhere in the middle if not right at the top as that shows they're on course for a long-term plan.

Most managers like a mix of experience and youth but the Toffees' average of 27.5 years skews slightly on the older side.

Everton are in the middle of a financial crisis and they also are looking down the barrel of a potential points deduction.

Thus, over the next few years, they may not even have the funds to rebuild the squad so their priority for transfer windows now should be to focus on players 26 or younger.

Sean Dyche does like more senior players but he may have to compromise his methods slightly and this kind of direction needs to come from the top.

Kevin Thelwell has had his fair share of rights and wrongs but he's got to make it a priority to bring down the average age of the squad.

Manchester City are the league's best team and they're above the Toffees in the average age and hopefully, Everton also look to make that change sooner rather than later.

In other Everton news, the purchase price for the 777 Partners takeover now hinges on one condition as sources finally speak out.
