Matt Crooks return decision in Hull City's predicted starting XI to tackle Bristol City

Ruben Selles faces a tricky decision whether or not to change a winning side in a bid to make it successive wins for the first time during his Hull City premiership.

The City head coach sprung a surprise on Tuesday night when he picked a slightly more attacking line-up for the visit of Plymouth Argyle, playing Kyle Joseph out wide and Joe Gelhardt in a central attacking role behind striker Joao Pedro.

That ensured City pressed high and created plenty of chances against the Pilgrims, who had the worst defence in the league and had conceded 40 goals away from home.

The challenge facing the Tigers on Saturday, however, will be an altogether different one with Bristol City in great form and sitting outside the top six on goal difference, having won seven of their last nine at Ashton Gate.

Liam Manning's Robins are quick in transition and a real threat from set-pieces, as Selles was keen to point out when he addressed the media on the eve of the trip to the West Country, so his selection at Ashton Gate could well reflect that, and see him opt for a slightly more conservative midfield, compared with what we saw on Tuesday night.

Naturally, Selles won't change his approach in terms of being positive and wanting his side to go all out and win the game, but he may also opt to be a little more pragmatic and offer an extra layer of cover in front of the back four.

After picking up no fresh injuries in midweek, Selles will have Matt Crooks available again after he missed the comfortable win over Argyle, while Kasey Palmer will be looking to make his 250th career appearance against one of his former clubs, having made his return from a 12-week layoff with an ankle injury.

The other thing to consider for Selles is the fact the game is the second of four in a busy two-week spell.

While they played at home on Tuesday, the Spaniard will know energy levels and mental fatigue could be an issue and will therefore be acutely aware that he may need to freshen things up.

Predicted XI: Pandur, McLoughlin, Hughes, Jones, Coyle (c), Puerta, Alzate, Slater, Gelhardt, Joseph, Kamara.
