Hull City the winners and Derby County losers ahead of pivotal Championship weekend
Source:Hull Live

Hull City's midweek win over Plymouth Argyle boosted their hopes of staying in the Championship significantly thanks to second half goals from Joe Gelhardt and Abu Kamara.

City's first home win since the success over Swansea City before Christmas and just a third in front of their own supporters this season moved Ruben Selles' men five points clear of the relegation zone with 11 games to go, and given the Tigers have a vastly superior goal difference, that gap is effectively six.

After the disappointment of last Tuesday's dismal defeat at fellow relegation rivals Cardiff City, this was the perfect response from Selles' players, and their hugely important victory has been reflected in the latest Championship odds, ahead of another crucial weekend.

That success against Argyle, who are now six points from safety, has seen City's chances of being relegated drop from just over 18 per cent to nine, while Derby County's have rocketed to 73 per cent.

The Rams have collected just two points since Boxing Day and are now seven points adrift of safety.

9%)"After the latest rounds of Championship fixtures, our relegation market suggests that Derby County are the biggest losers and Hull City are the biggest winners when it comes to avoiding the drop," Betfred's Robert Ford told Hull Live.

"Hull City's victory on Tuesday night has seen them move out to 10/1 from 9/2, meaning they now have a 9.

1% chance of being relegated.

This stood at 18.

2% last week.

Derby County on the other hand have seen their probability of going down increase by 9.

7% after their defeat away to Middlesbrough on Saturday and they're now 4/11 to be relegated and trail Plymouth in the market at 1/6.

"Another side that saw their likelihood of going down increase was Oxford United.

They've been cut to 11/4 from 7/2, whilst Luton Town have had a drop off by just over 6% and have seen their chances of being relegated move positively into 8/15 from 2/5.

Stoke City have also drifted in the right direction from 3/1 to 7/2.

Cardiff City and Portsmouth's odds remain unchanged.
