Manchester City have seen many players make moves in and out of the club in recent years.
One player who has spent time at and away from the Etihad Stadium since officially joining the club is Kalvin Phillips.
Arriving from Leeds United back in 2022 for a fee of PS45m, the midfielder has made just 31 appearances for City across all competitions.
Having completed a short loan spell at West Ham United last season, the Englishman joined Ipswich Town on a season-long loan deal during the previous summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, Phillips said that Pep Guardiola's criticism of his weight back in 2022 left him frustrated as a result of the effect it had in terms of other clubs questioning is fitness.
Now though, one of Phillips' former Leeds teammates has weighed in on the City exile's current situation and what the future may hold for him.
Pablo Hernandez addresses Kalvin Phillips situation In a recent interview with Flashscore, former Leeds star Pablo Hernandez gave this assessment when asked about Phillips and his journey since leaving his boyhood club to join City.
He said: "Yes, that year of promotion, Kalvin Phillips was a young player who had left the Leeds quarry, a very important player for us and Manchester City paid PS50m I think for him.
"There he has not had the luck, he has not had the opportunity to prove. We know the quality of players there and in his position in addition, because he has had Rodri, who has been a fixture for Guardiola and who I think is the best midfielder in the world.
"And Kalvin has now had to look for minutes elsewhere, but he is a kid who is physically an aeroplane, he is a bull and who plays soccer very well.
"Hopefully, now he can renew his career, prove his worth and return to City."
What has Phillips said about leaving City? Following his loan move to Ipswich during the previous summer transfer window, Phillips gave this answer about why he left City.
He said: "I think the main reason I came to Ipswich was just, my main ambition was just to get back playing football.
"I think just week in, week out and make sure that I'm fit again, and I'm not getting many injuries, which, me and Pat, as of the last two years, we've had that quite a lot.
"And I think, yeah, just back to enjoying my football, because obviously I loved it at City. They're the best team in the world. They've got amazing players and amazing people there.
"It's just kind of draining when you know that you're not going to play on the weekend and you've still got to go in and train as well as you can, and hopefully keep on trying to make yourself better and better every day.
"With nothing to look forward to on the weekend, it's really hard and I just got to a point where I knew that I probably wasn't going to play much because of the players that play in front of me, which I can't really argue about that.
"I kind of just made that decision that I wanted to just enjoy my football again and play football, not stress-free, but with less stress and fewer eyes on me, maybe."
Since joining Kieran McKenna's side, the 28-year-old has appeared in four Premier League games, which is already double the amount of league games he has started for City.
Now that Hernandez, who appeared in 136 games with Phillips during their time together at Leeds, has shared his thoughts on the midfielder and what he needs to do to get his career back on track, the best thing the City loanee can do is make sure he continues to work hard and improve his game.
